Project: Penthouse in the historic centre of Trieste – internal restructuring and new interior design
Place: Trieste (TS) – Italy
Description: A penthouse on the top floor of a building in the heart of Trieste is positioned between the sky and the sea with a panoramic view of the gulf like a “dammuso”. The small dwelling was created in such as way as to allow you to live as if in an inverted hull.
Marine elements also include the white fishing net used as a parapet and the white metallic spiral staircase that leads to the mezzanine like the deck of a boat. The architectural style is based on simplicity and formal cleanliness using natural and light colours.
Elements in pompean red stand out to counterbalance the bright white and ecru monochromatism, . Attention is also paid to the nocturnal lighting effects to emphasise the evocative atmosphere in which the rhythmic flashing of the lighthouse of the city’s port is integrated.
